I’m one of those crazies who had been hoping for a big snow all season. And thanks to Mother Nature, I now feel like Winter is complete. (I’m sure the citizens of Boston would agree!)
I think it’s time to bring on Spring.
Better yet. I think it’s time to bring on S’mores.
I can’t sit around wishing for Spring – that won’t make it happen. But I can take action and bring warm-weather fun to these cold winter days! I’m making S’mores. Tonight. At home. In my kitchen.
They may not have the ambiance of the sitting-by-a-campfire-S’mores that the middle of Summer brings… but I think my Indoor S’mores will be even better!
Without the hassle of holding a marshmallow over a fire on a stick and finding chocolate thin enough to melt quickly, the options are endless! Just think…
- Chocolate Grahams * peanut butter cups * marshmallow
- Original Grahams * peanut butter * marshmallow
- Chocolate Grahams * caramel sauce * marshmallow
- Original Grahams * Nutella * Peeps
- Chocolate Grahams * dark chocolate * GOURMET bourbon marshmallows
YUM!!!! YUM!!!! YUM!!!!
(Note: I think that you could easily add fruit – bananas, strawberries, ? – to the combinations above, but at my house, we have a strict “no fruit in the dessert policy.” Ha!)
Frankly, this is a recipe my 6-year old can handle (with adult supervision, of course!!!) Simply lay the delicious Grateful Grahams on a cookie tray – bottom side facing up. Put a piece of chocolate (or candy or your spread of choice) on one, a marshmallow (or fluff or Peeps) on the other, and toss it into the oven under the broiler.
BUT STAY CLOSE!!!! The browning/melting goes quickly!!!! Simply remove the pan from the oven. Wait a minute so that you don’t burn your finger on the melted marshmallow. And before you know it, you’ll be sandwiching the two grahams together for – voila! Indoor S’mores!
It’s the easiest dinner party dessert out there. It’s decadent. It’s delicious. And your guests (or family) will appreciate the nod towards warmer times…
Enjoy!
Maureen
PS – Leftover s’mores make an excellent breakfast treat the next morning… I’m just saying. 😉
